How ChatForge uses AI, and what your responsibilities are.

ChatForge generates character bibles, cast relationship suggestions, and export-ready character documents using automated AI systems. This page explains what that means in practice. It supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. We use AI
ChatForge generates character bibles (Voice, Flaw, Motivation, Backstory Hook, 3-Beat Arc), cast relationship suggestions, and export-ready character documents using automated AI systems. The current primary provider is Cloudflare Workers AI, with OpenRouter as an optional fallback when the primary provider is unavailable.
2. AI output is not guaranteed
AI-generated output can be, and often is:
- Factually inaccurate or out of date.
- Biased in ways that reflect the training data.
- Generic, repetitive, or formulaic.
- Similar to material produced for other users of the same model.
- Close to existing third-party characters, settings, or text — including material that is protected by copyright, trademark, or publicity rights.
- Unsuitable for the audience, genre, or purpose you intend.
We do not guarantee that output is accurate, original, unique to you, non-infringing, safe, commercially viable, or suitable for publication. We do not guarantee that you have any particular rights in the output.
3. Your responsibility
You are responsible for:
- The prompts and source material you submit.
- Reviewing every AI-generated draft before you use it.
- Editing the output to remove errors, biases, and unwanted similarities to existing works.
- Checking third-party rights — including copyright, trademark, privacy, and publicity rights — before you publish, distribute, sell, or commercially exploit the output.
- Complying with the terms of any writing software, platform, or publisher you send the output to.
The Service is not a substitute for an editor, a literary agent, a lawyer, or any other professional adviser. AI output is not legal, medical, financial, safety, or factual advice.
4. What you must not submit
To protect you and others, do not submit to the Service:
- Passwords, API keys, or payment credentials.
- Government identifiers (passport, SSN, national ID, etc.).
- Sensitive personal data (health, financial, biometric, children's data).
- Confidential client information or trade secrets.
- Material you do not have the right to use.
- Names or likenesses of real people if you intend to use the output in ways that implicate their privacy or publicity rights.
5. Independent, unofficial tool
ChatForge is an independent, unofficial tool. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, authorized by, or endorsed by any writing software (such as Scrivener or Notion), AI provider, franchise, author, studio, or platform referenced in your prompts or in the output. Any third-party name that appears in user-generated content or in prompts is the property of its respective owner.
6. No model-training license
We do not use your prompts, user content, or AI output to train third-party AI models, unless we provide a separate, conspicuous, and verified disclosure and you give explicit consent. This statement reflects our current configuration but does not override the third-party provider's terms; see our Privacy Policy for the live vendor list and retention settings.
7. Changes
We may update this disclosure. Material changes will be communicated where required by law. The effective date at the top reflects the latest change.
